Other Services
Along with the core services available at each Centre, other government, community and social service agencies have an opportunity to provide a wider range of services on-site. This can include everything from access to government forms, family counselling, legal resources, health information, supports for youth, women and seniors — the list goes on. There is a lot of flexibility in the mix of services available at each Centre. These services will be identified based on the unique needs of the community and may be different for each Welcome Centre.
Do You Provide Services for Newcomers/Immigrants?
In addition to settlement, language and employment-related services, Welcome Centre work with other agencies to provide other needed and specialized services to meet community needs.
Space is not exclusively for service agencies; hotel space can
also be made available to government, for example, inoculation
clinics. Less well-resourced agencies can also have access to this
feature. The inclusion of the business community is another planning
principal of the model. Businesses will be considered as both a
support to, and possible consumer of, services. The model addresses
both economic and social community development outcomes.
