Accreditation and Qualifications Information
Employment is a priority for most Newcomers and credential recognition can be a primary concern. Accreditation is needed when employers look for education as a requirement for employment or when a profession is regulated in Canada.
At the Welcome Centres, Newcomers can participate in individual interviews with a facilitator to conduct research for their accreditation goals. An action plan is presented to the client in a confidential one-to-one session accompanied by a customized Pathways to Certification report that includes steps for Certification for Comparative Evaluation; Certification and Licensing; Training; Trades; Translations and Portfolio Development.
If the individual does not require accreditation for employment, they will then be guided through Pathways to Alternative Related Occupations. They are given an introduction to related career options that do not require certification or licensing.
The final option available to foreign trained professionals through the Welcome Centres is Pathway to Skills Upgrading. In this path, clients develop their Accreditation Portfolio by way of individual instruction or group workshops. For more information about Accreditation and Qualifications Assistance
